Academic Seminar – “Venezuela on Fire. The Donroe Doctrine and the Global Implications of the Situation in Venezuela”
On behalf of the Latin American and Caribbean Research Circle, the Young Diplomats Forum, and the Political Psychology Research Circle, we cordially invite you to an academic seminar entitled “Venezuela on Fire. The Donroe Doctrine and the Global Implications of the Situation in Venezuela.”
The event will take place in person on Monday, January 19, at 6:30 PM in the Professor Jan Baszkiewicz Auditorium in our Faculty’s Auditorium Building.
The seminar guests will be Dr. Habil. Patrycja Grzebyk, University Professor; Dr. Joanna Gocłowska-Bolek; and Ambassador Krzysztof Jacek Hinz.
The discussion will focus on the unprecedented political and international legal challenges facing Venezuela and the global community following the American military operation “Absolute Resolve.” In an era of returning to the active enforcement of the Monroe Doctrine (in its new iteration, called the Donroe Doctrine), this region has become a central point of contention regarding the limits of sovereignty and the right to intervention in the name of Western Hemisphere security. The capture of Nicolás Maduro, the power vacuum in Caracas, and the armed confrontation with Russian and Chinese technological presence in the region call into question the existing balance of power in Latin America. This dynamic – combining the struggle for control over energy resources with the drastic testing of international law norms – constitutes an unprecedented event. Therefore, it is worth examining this dynamic.

We invite you to participate and engage in a substantive debate.
