Student Research Clubs

Young People on Politics is a grassroots initiative of students from the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, University of Warsaw, aimed at bringing together individuals with different worldviews and improving the quality of public debate. We organize events and seminars, as well as publish the quarterly journal “Young People on Politics.”

We For Europe is a group of young and active students whose goal is to strengthen civil society, expand knowledge on European affairs, and engage in substantive discussion on topics related to our Europe. We operate at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, University of Warsaw, and serve as a student think tank.

The European Integration Circle operates at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, University of Warsaw. Our activities focus on issues related to European integration, international politics, and civic engagement. We organize debates, workshops, meetings with experts, and study trips, enabling our members to acquire practical knowledge, develop competencies, and build valuable contacts. Our goal is to promote informed citizenship and broaden perspectives on contemporary challenges facing Europe and the world.

The Cultural Policy Research Circle of the University of Warsaw (KNPK UW) is a student organization that focuses on popularizing knowledge and discussion on cultural policy. It works to integrate students interested in culture and its management by organizing meetings, seminars, workshops, and research projects. The Circle collaborates with various cultural institutions and organizations, offering students the opportunity to establish contacts with professionals in the field.

The International Analysis Circle, University of Warsaw (formerly the Foreign Affairs Circle ISM UW) has been operating at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, University of Warsaw, since 2017.

The primary area of the Circle’s activity is editorial work, which focuses on writing analytical content in the field of international relations. In addition, we regularly conduct press reviews dedicated to the most important events in the world. We also regularly organize expert meetings and academic conferences, where we enable both renowned experts and students to present analyses in their field of interest.

In the past, we have implemented a number of projects and events. One of the first was “Open Source Open Mind,” which was dedicated to issues in the field of cybersecurity and disinformation. We also had the opportunity to collaborate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, implementing the project “Polish Aid – An Opportunity for Development,” within which we organized a series of seminars with experts from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.   We also created a series of articles authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs dedicated to development aid. We regularly organize analytical workshops for Circle members, prepared in cooperation with the Centre for Eastern Studies, Demagog, and Esperis Consulting.

In 2008, a new program was opened at the Institute of Political Science, University of Warsaw—Internal Security. It turned out that we constituted a cohesive group of students hungry for new experiences and knowledge. Together with Political Science students, we decided to bring a certain project to life. It was the establishment of a research circle that would allow us to develop our interests in the field of security and defense. Our dream was partially fulfilled in March 2009. The Internal Security Circle was officially registered.

The Internal Security Circle is a neutral and ideologically free circle, not attached to any political option. Everyone who wishes to join will find their place here. We respect each other and listen to every opinion, regardless of whether it is positive or negative. We want to actively participate in university life and strongly emphasize our presence in it.

We combine academic activity with social engagement, responding to real challenges of contemporary defense, including lessons from the war in Ukraine and the fight against disinformation. Our strength lies in the diverse experience of our members—from reserve soldiers and Territorial Defense Forces members, to individuals associated with the defense market, cybersecurity experts, and humanitarian volunteers. We organize meetings and academic conferences at the University, and also build social resilience through practical training in crisis response and battlefield medicine. Additionally, we develop our flagship project: the Strategic Analysis Laboratory (LAS). Within its framework, we conduct interdisciplinary research and prepare specialized reports for external entities, including the Ministry of National Defense.

Our research circle deals with the broadly understood topic of European integration. Our goal is to expand knowledge about the cooperation of European states and disseminate information about the functioning of European cooperation structures. We want to encourage students to participate actively and consciously in European politics by providing them with comprehensive knowledge necessary to understand decision-making processes at the European level.

The Cybersecurity Research Circle was founded by first-year Master’s students in the Cybersecurity program in order to disseminate information in the field of network security. The Circle’s activities will be based on both theoretical issues and technical aspects of cybersecurity.

The “Think Politically” Circle is a circle that has the ambition to revise and understand anew political science and its role in scholarship and in explaining how the world and politics work. Applying an open approach and a model of rational
debate, the Circle seeks a new perspective both within and on political science. The guiding idea that accompanied the Circle’s establishment was the notion of not closing oneself off to any side of scholarly and political debate, in order to achieve the fullest possible understanding of different ideas—even those incomprehensible, abstract, and
uncommon. In this way, the Circle seeks to contribute to the development of political science as a discipline, but also to influence the renewal of the perception of the role of political science and political scientists in the contemporary world. Areas of interest:

– Political theory and contemporary political thought
– Analysis of political systems
– Political culture and the language of communication
– Interdisciplinary approach to politics (e.g., connections with
history, sociology, economics)

The primary objective of the Pacific Region States Circle (KPOP) is to promote knowledge about the Asia-Pacific region. We regularly organize academic events such as webinars, conferences, and seminars, where we host many experts. We produce our own podcast “Echo of Asia” and create content about Asia-Pacific states, such as articles, analyses, cultural corners, and weekly summaries. We also undertake cooperation with diplomatic missions and many academic entities. As part of our flagship project DiplomAsia, launched in 2023, we visit embassies, discovering the secrets of a diplomat’s life and discussing mutual relations with the Asia-Pacific state whose embassy we are visiting. The list of missions we have visited includes the embassies of Indonesia, Thailand, India, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Japan, among others. We constantly create new development opportunities for our members and continuously expand our reach, and therefore cordially invite you to join our ranks!

The Political Psychology Research Circle was established to popularize political and political science topics from a psychological perspective, which, despite its great potential, is still highly underappreciated and unexplored.

The Latin America and the Caribbean Research Circle is a grassroots initiative of students from the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies aimed at expanding knowledge about the Latin America and Caribbean region. We organize events and seminars with experts on Latin America and the Caribbean, and we are very active on our social media.

We offer an interdisciplinary approach to social phenomena through the lens of political systems science, sociology, psychology, and political theory, with a particular emphasis on conducting social research.

The Israel Studies Research Circle conducts research in the field of Israeli politics, international relations, culture, and economy. The main objective of the Circle is to promote knowledge about this specific and globally unique state.
