Internal Security (First Cycle, Full-time)

The goal of the program is to provide students with interdisciplinary knowledge regarding the functioning of the state’s internal security system and to prepare them to take action in emergency and crisis situations.

During their studies, students develop the following skills:

• identifying and analyzing social, political, economic, and technological risks;
• risk assessments and the development of proposals for preventive measures;
• understanding the principles governing the functioning of public administration, public services, inspectorates, and law enforcement agencies;
• planning activities related to crisis management and civil protection;
• interpreting safety-related legal provisions;
• gathering, analyzing, and presenting information;
• teamwork and decision-making in situations that require a quick response.

The program also fosters a sense of responsibility, professional ethics, critical thinking skills, and an awareness of the importance of civil rights and freedoms in actions taken to ensure security.

General Description of the Program

The modern world is full of challenges and crises; new threats are emerging, and those already known are escalating. In this context, the importance of internal security and public order in the policies pursued by public authorities is growing significantly. The public administration, economic, social, and private sectors need qualified personnel , among other things, to manage the affairs of the state and its citizens during crises and various types of threats, as well as to safeguard business operations. So if you are interested in security issues, recognize the importance of this field, and see your professional future in this area, this program is for you.

Program Structure

First-cycle (bachelor’s) studies last six semesters and are intended for high school graduates and students who wish to earn a new, attractive degree. Individuals who have passed the Polish, foreign, international, or European high school graduation exam may apply. Admission to full-time programs is based on high school graduation exam scores.

Starting in the fifth semester, students also choose one of three attractive specializations:

• Crisis Management is a specialization for students who see their future in careers related to security management in public and private institutions. The program includes courses such as: Crisis Management in Modern States, Safety at Mass Events and Public Gatherings, the Polish Armed Forces in Crisis Management and Civil Protection, and Negotiation and Mediation in Crisis Situations.
• Uniformed Services —this specialization is for students who wish to pursue a career in uniformed services, such as the police, fire department, military, or border guard. The program offers courses that provide insight into the work and management of uniformed services, such as: Police Systems Around the World, Management of Uniformed Services, Operational and Reconnaissance Activities, and Special Services in the National Security System.
• Cybercrime is a specialization for students who are interested in cybersecurity threats and digital crimes, and who see their professional future in this field. Courses offered in this program include: Cybercrime in the Age of Artificial Intelligence; Organization and Responsibilities of Government Agencies Combating Cybercrime; and The Crypto Asset Ecosystem: Security, Culture, and Law; Forensic and Technical Aspects of Cybercrime

Graduates of the Internal Security program possess interdisciplinary knowledge regarding the functioning of the state, public administration, and institutions responsible for public safety and order. They understand the mechanisms behind the emergence of contemporary threats, are able to analyze their causes and effects, and can assess risks and propose appropriate preventive and corrective measures.

During their studies, students acquire the skills necessary to work with information, prepare analyses, reports, and documentation, as well as plan actions in crisis situations. They are able to collaborate in a team, make decisions, communicate with representatives of various institutions, and act in accordance with the law, professional ethics, and civil rights.

Graduates are prepared to work in, among other places, government and local government administration, public services, inspectorates, and emergency response agencies, crisis management centers, civil protection agencies, nongovernmental organizations, and companies and teams responsible for security, risk analysis, information security, and business continuity.

The skills he has acquired also enable him to continue his education and develop his specialized knowledge in the areas of security, administration, crisis management, civil protection, and public policy.
