We invite you to the conference organized by the Department of International Security and Strategic Studies and the Association for Strategic Studies entitled “The World in the Shadow of a Psychotic Administration”, which will take place on 25 May 2026 at 11:30 AM in room 223 in the Auditorium Building.
Observing the events of the past several months, it is worth asking about the current significance of strategic studies as an area of analysis of the relationship between politics, power, and security in international relations. In conditions of growing unpredictability in the actions of major powers, including states with a crucial influence on the global security order, the need for reliable strategic reflection remains particularly important.
Europe, and Poland along with it, finds itself in an exceptionally difficult situation today. One of the most important challenges for European strategic thought and practice is to define the scope of its own autonomy in the area of security and the consequences arising from continued dependence on external guarantees. In this context, the question of possible scenarios for Poland becomes particularly significant: what strategic options remain available if full and secure autonomy for Europe proves impossible?
