Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Physics at the NAWA Internationalization Day in Toruń

Dean of the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Warsaw, Katarzyna Kołodziejczyk, Ph.D., Prof., took part on November 28, 2025, in Internationalization Day, organized by the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) in cooperation with Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.

The event, which was part of a series of consultations accompanying the development of the National Strategy for the Internationalization of Science and Higher Education, was held under the theme Academic Publishing Houses – Scholarly Publications: Between Productivity and Academic Excellence.

The meeting brought together representatives of the academic community, journal editors-in-chief, and experts on science policy. The main purpose of the session was to discuss the role of publications in the internationalization of Polish science. During the panel discussions and consultations, key issues for the development of the disciplines represented by our Department were addressed, including:

  • the impact of journal rankings on the international visibility of research,
  • challenges associated with the open access model (Open Science),
  • the relationship between the evaluation of research output and actual scientific excellence.

Dean Prof. Katarzyna Kołodziejczyk participated in a panel discussion titled “The Role of Scientific Journals in the Internationalization of Scientific Research and Its Dissemination”, which was moderated by Dr. Adam Marszałek (President of the Marszałek Publishing Group). Other panelists included:

  • Prof. Sabina Grabowska, Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Education at the University of Rzeszów, Editor-in-Chief of the bimonthly journal *Przegląd Prawa Konstytucyjnego*
  • Prof. Renata Podgórzańska, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at the University of Szczecin, editor-in-chief of the quarterly *Reality of Politics*
  • Prof. Jadwiga Woźniak-Kasperek, University of Warsaw, Faculty of Journalism, Information, and Library Science, member of the Council for Scientific Excellence
  • Prof. Piotr Siemiątkowski, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, editor-in-chief of the journal “Toruń International Studies”
  • Prof. Tadeusz Wallas, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, member of the Council for Scientific Excellence

The Dean’s presence at this event reflects the Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration’s commitment to shaping the strategic directions of Polish higher education and ensuring that the perspective of political science and public administration, security, and international relations is taken into account in the nationwide debate on evaluation and internationalization.
