Final of the Jubilee 10th Edition of the Security and Defense Knowledge Olympiad

On March 13–14, our Department hosted the 10th final round of the anniversary Safety and Defense Knowledge Olympiad. This year’s edition of the Security and Defense Knowledge Olympiad was held under the honorary patronage of Mr. Krzysztof Gawkowski—Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs, Mr. Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense; Mr. Marcin Kierwiński — Minister of the Interior and Administration; and the Scientific and Academic Computer Network — State Research Institute. Among the topics covered in the first stage of the competition during the 2025–2026 school year were, among others: “The Role of the Internet in Contemporary International Conflicts”; “Selected Civilizational Challenges in the Third Decade of the 21st Century—An Analysis of Threats to the Security of Poland and Europe”; “Characterize and Conduct a Critical Analysis of the Hybrid Nature of Contemporary Wars”; “The Cyberspace Defense Forces as a specialized component of the Polish Armed Forces: A review of three years of operation” and “The 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. Using selected examples, characterize the evolution of the UN’s role in maintaining global security.” The competition had 72 finalists, including 36 winners. As emphasized by the Chairman of the Competition Committee, Dr. Jacek Ziółkowski: “The goal of the Olympiad is to promote knowledge in the fields of security studies and defense studies, to foster patriotic attitudes, and to cultivate understanding and tolerance toward others. By developing academic knowledge and fostering social competencies, we aim to help shape a Poland that is secure, a Poland that respects its traditions, and a Poland that is friendly toward others.”
