Final of the Jubilee 10th Edition of the Security and Defense Knowledge Olympiad
On 13–14 March, our Faculty hosted the 10th jubilee final of the Security and Defense Knowledge Olympiad. This year’s edition of the Security and Defense Knowledge Olympiad received honorary patronage from Mr. Krzysztof Gawkowski – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs, Mr. Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense, Mr. Marcin Kierwiński – Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration, and the Research and Academic Computer Network – National Research Institute. Among the topics covered in the first stage of the Olympiad in the 2025/2026 academic year were: “The role of the internet in contemporary international conflicts”; “Selected civilizational problems in the third decade of the 21st century – analysis of threats to the security of Poland and Europe”; “Characterize and critically analyze the hybrid nature of contemporary wars”; “Cyber Defense Forces as a specialized component of the Polish Armed Forces. A three-year review” and “80th anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations. Characterize, using selected examples, the evolution of the UN’s role in maintaining global security.” The Olympiad had 72 finalists, including 36 laureates. As emphasized by the Chairman of the Olympiad Committee, Dr. Jacek Ziółkowski: “The aim of the Olympiad is to promote knowledge in the field of security sciences and defense sciences, to foster patriotic attitudes, and to cultivate understanding and tolerance towards others. We wish – by developing academic knowledge and creating social competencies – to influence the shaping of a safe Poland, a Poland that respects its traditions, a Poland that is friendly towards others.”
