Guest Lecture by Prof. Rory Medcalf and Visit of the Delegation from the National Security College
The Faculty of Political Science and International Studies of the University of Warsaw, in cooperation with the Scientific Circle of Pacific Rim States, invites you to a lecture by Prof. Rory Medcalf and a meeting with the delegation from the National Security College (NSC) at the Australian National University (ANU). The event will take place on 4 February 2026 in Room 223 in the Auditorium Building.
Professor Rory Medcalf will deliver a lecture entitled “No continent is an island: an Australian view of the New Global Disorder”, devoted to an analysis of the contemporary international order from the perspective of middle powers. Prof. Medcalf will address the challenges facing democracies in Europe and the Indo-Pacific region in the face of global shocks (including the context of the 2026 Greenland crisis). The analysis will cover strategies for building national capabilities and international cooperation extending beyond immediate geographical neighbourhoods.
Composition of the delegation:
- Prof. Rory Medcalf AM FAIIA – Director of the National Security College (ANU), expert in security policy and the Indo-Pacific concept.
- Ms Caroline Millar – Distinguished Fellow at NSC, former Australian Ambassador to the EU and NATO, and former Deputy Secretary for National Security.
- Mr Tom Rogers AO – Distinguished Fellow at NSC, head of the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) from 2014 to 2024.
- Mr Rohan Titus – Director of Programme Design and Delivery at NSC, specialist in national security (Middle East and South Asia).
The event will also be attended by representatives of the Australian Embassy in Poland and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland.
