Invitation to a Conference Organized by the University High School Graduation Exam Lab

We invite you to participate in a conference organized as part of the University Matura Laboratory—a series of conferences organized by the University of Warsaw and the Regional Examination Commission in Warsaw for secondary school teachers.

The event is organized by the Warsaw branch of OKE, the Department of Polish Studies, the Department of History, and the Department of Political Science and International Studies. The conference will take place on September 18, 2026, in our department’s Auditorium Building.

The meeting will begin at 9:00.

The lecture series will open with a presentation by Prof. Tomasz Słomka titled “The Constitution of the Republic of Poland in Light of the Experiences of the Past Thirty Years—Is It Time for Change?” Next, Prof. Ewa Marciniak will deliver a lecture titled “The Image of Polish Society in Public Opinion Polls.” After the break, Sylwia Derda will present an analysis of the results of the high school graduation exam in social studies administered in the Mazovia Province in 2026.

Next, two workshop sessions are scheduled. In the first part, Prof. Jacek Ziółkowski will lead a workshop titled “Gamification as a Teaching Tool to Support the Instruction of Social Studies, and Prof. Piotr Załęski will discuss issues related to the design of high school graduation exam test papers in social studies.

The second workshop session will feature a session led by Dr. Piotr Sosnowski titled “Fake News or Disinformation? Foreign Interference and Manipulation in the Information Sphere in the Age of Generative AI” and a workshop by Włodzimierz Chybowski on designing a teacher certification exam based on the results of the high school graduation exam in social studies.

The conference will provide an opportunity to expand knowledge, exchange experiences, and discuss current challenges in teaching social studies and preparing students for the high school graduation exam.
