Invitation to the debate “The Constitution of the Republic of Poland—The Foundation of the Political System, Potential for Change”
The Faculty of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Warsaw, together with the Aleksander Kwaśniewski Amicus Europae Foundation and the Gabriel Narutowicz Institute of Political Thought, invite you to participate in a debate titled “The Constitution of the Republic of Poland—Foundation of the Political System, Potential for Change,” which will take place on Monday, December 15, 2025, at the Old Library of the University of Warsaw, located at 26/28 Krakowskie Przedmieście Street.
The event will kick off a series of meetings devoted to selected aspects of the functioning of the 1997 Constitution of the Republic of Poland. Participants in the debate will reflect on nearly three decades of the Constitution’s implementation, the relationships between the highest executive authorities, and the connection between political culture and the functioning of the constitutional system. The discussion will also address questions regarding potential directions for change and the state’s current constitutional needs.
The meeting will be attended by prominent figures from the worlds of politics, law, and academia, including former Presidents of Poland, judges of the Constitutional Tribunal, members of parliament, and experts on constitutional issues.
