Invitation to the FameLab Poland 2026 Competition

Invitation to the FameLab Poland 2026 Competition

We cordially encourage you to submit applications for the national final of the FameLab Poland 2026 competition, which will take place on 8-9 June 2026 in Katowice.

FameLab is one of the most important European events dedicated to science communication, led by the United Kingdom (Cheltenham Science Festival). The task of FameLab Poland finalists – students, doctoral school participants, and doctoral degree holders – will be to captivate the jury and audience with their scientific passion within three minutes.

Applications for the national final of FameLab Poland 2026 are open until 10 May 2026. In the first stage, an international jury will select semi-finalists from among the submitted candidates, who will participate in expert science communication training on 8-9 June 2026, conducted by European specialists. The national final of the FameLab competition will take place on 9 June 2026 in Katowice, during which finalists will present their scientific projects. The FameLab Poland winner will represent Poland at the global FameLab final, which will be held in December 2026 during the 10th Silesian Science Festival Katowice.

Cash prizes are provided for the top three winners, with a total value of at least 20,000 zlotys.

FameLab was established in 2005 in Cheltenham, United Kingdom, as part of the local science festival, but quickly won the hearts of audiences worldwide.

Local editions of the competition have been organised in over 30 countries on all continents, with more than 40,000 participants taking the stage. The event currently takes place in the Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Italy, Australia, Malaysia, the Republic of South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates, among others.

In Poland, FameLab was organised from 2012 to 2021 by the British Council Foundation in cooperation with the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw. During this time, nearly 650 participants applied to the Polish edition of the competition – many of whom became excellent science communicators.

The University of Silesia has decided to continue this tradition and restore the Polish edition of FameLab, inviting young scientists to Katowice – the European City of Science.
