We invite you to the first pre-congress event dedicated to the current political and social situation in Iran.
Date: 6 February 2026
Time: 16:45–18:15
Venue: Main Campus of the University of Warsaw, Auditorium Building, Room 308
This year’s nationwide protests in Iran are among the largest and most significant social movements in recent years. They have shaken the system of the Islamic Republic, revealing the scale of public discontent with the political, economic, and social situation, and calling into question the future of the ayatollahs’ rule. The brutal suppression of demonstrations and the real possibility of involvement by external actors, including the United States, make Iranian issues one of the key challenges in contemporary international politics.
During the meeting, we will examine, among other things:
- the causes and course of recent protests in Iran,
- the mechanisms of survival of the Islamic Republic’s political system,
- possible scenarios for change and transformation,
- barriers to reform and the role of external actors.
The event is aimed at all those interested in the situation in Iran, Middle Eastern issues, and international politics broadly understood. The meeting will provide an opportunity for in-depth discussion with experts specializing in these areas.
