Jubilee Gala on the Occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies

Half a century of scholarship, teaching, and community was celebrated on 14 April at the Jubilee Gala on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies. The event provided an opportunity not only to celebrate, but above all to reflect on the path that has been co-created over five decades by generations of researchers, teachers, staff, and students.

The Gala began with a ceremonial opening, followed by an awards ceremony for individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the Faculty community.
The first panel discussion was devoted to the development of the Faculty in the context of national and international transformations in the years 1975–2026. Participants had the opportunity to hear an inspiring account of how scholarship responds to a changing world.
After a coffee break, guests took part in the panel “Masters and Disciples,” during which the profiles of distinguished scholars and their influence on successive generations were recalled. Among those remembered were: Professor Jan Baszkiewicz, Professor Artur Bodnar, Professor Stanisław Gebethner, Professor Grażyna Michałowska, Professor Tadeusz Mołdawa, and Professor Franciszek Ryszka. This was a particularly moving moment, as the reminiscences were delivered by their students, who are current members of the Faculty’s teaching staff, including: Professor Mirosław Karwat, Professor Tomasz Słomka, and Professor Anna Sosnowska-Materska. This part of the ceremony was hosted by Professor Olgierd Annusewicz.

Dean Dr. Katarzyna Kołodziejczyk, Professor, emphasized in her address that: The Jubilee of half a century of the Faculty’s existence is not only a moment of celebration, but also a time for reflection on the path we have travelled – a path marked out by generations […] who over the past five decades have co-created our Faculty.

The evening culminated in the ceremonial closing of the Gala and a joint dinner, which created a space for meetings, conversations, and reminiscences.
