New book by Prof. Ewa Flaszyńska “Downsized. Support for Employees in Collective Redundancies in Poland and Europe”

Prof. Ewa Flaszyńska shows no signs of slowing down! The Professor has completed work on her latest book, which is now entering the market.

The monograph “Downsized. Support for Employees in Collective Redundancies in Poland and Europe” is an interdisciplinary study analysing collective redundancies from legal, systemic, social, and psychosocial perspectives. The author presents them as a permanent feature of contemporary labour markets, resulting from restructuring processes, globalisation, and technological and ecological transformation.

The publication discusses Polish regulations concerning collective and monitored redundancies, indicating their formal protective function, but also limitations in terms of actual employee support and the importance of cooperation between labour market institutions and employers. A significant part consists of a comparative analysis of solutions in EU countries, showing diverse support models and good practices, such as early intervention, outplacement, or integration of professional and psychological support.

The author also emphasises the psychosocial consequences of job loss, pointing to the need to combine labour market instruments with psychological assistance and preventive measures. In the context of digital transformation, the book stresses the necessity of developing early warning systems, lifelong learning, and flexible forms of support that increase the chances of professional reintegration.

We warmly congratulate the Professor and encourage thorough reading!
