Prof. Gertruda Uścińska on the Council for Family and Demography under the President of Poland

Prof. Gertruda Uścińska, Ph.D., from the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Warsaw, was appointed to the newly established Council on Family and Demography. The ceremony to present the letters of appointment took place on December 2 at the Presidential Palace.

During the event, Polish President Karol Nawrocki established an advisory body tasked with developing solutions to support Polish families and address the demographic crisis. Following the official portion of the event, the Council held its inaugural meeting.

The establishment of the Council is a response to the demographic crisis. The body, composed of experts in social policy, economics, demography, sociology, and medicine, is intended to serve as a forum for strategic debate.

The Council’s key tasks will include assessing the current situation of families, developing guidelines for legislative initiatives in the area of pro-family policy, and analyzing the effectiveness of public measures in this area.

Prof. Gertruda Uścińska, Ph.D., is a lawyer and political scientist who has served for many years as a faculty member at the Faculty of Law, Politics, and Social Sciences (WNPiSM) at the University of Warsaw, where she heads the Center for Social Security Research.
