Professor Has Passed Away Katarzyna Kołodziejczyk, Dean of the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, University of Warsaw
It is with profound sorrow that we received the news that on 30 May 2026, Professor Katarzyna Kołodziejczyk, a distinguished scholar, esteemed academic teacher, and Dean of the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Warsaw, passed away. Words cannot express this loss.
Professor Katarzyna Kołodziejczyk served as Dean of the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Warsaw from 3 July 2025. At a difficult moment, she assumed responsibility for her beloved Faculty and worked for the academic community with extraordinary energy, commitment, and a smile. People were close to her heart—colleagues, lecturers, students—all those with whom she discovered and changed the world, and those to whom she revealed it. For many of us, she was a person from whom one could learn kindness, a smile, and responsibility for the community. Her energy, warmth, and cheerfulness will remain in our memory forever.
Professor was a distinguished and esteemed scholar of international relations in the field of European integration, associated with the University of Warsaw throughout her professional life. She held numerous leadership positions, including Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies for Research, Head of the Full-Time Master’s Programme in International Relations, Head of the National Security Programme, Secretary of the Scientific Committee of Political Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences; for many years she was a juror for the Olympiad on Knowledge of Poland and the Contemporary World and the Olympiad on the European Union. She was a member of the Polish Association for International Studies.
In 2014, she obtained the degree of habilitated doctor at her home Faculty on the basis of the dissertation: Relations between the European Union and the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States. The Role and Significance of Economic Partnership Agreements in Trade and Development Aid.
Professor Katarzyna Kołodziejczyk will remain part of the history of our Faculty and University. We will remember not only her scientific and organizational achievements; in our memory she will remain as an academic teacher valued and liked by students, and as a person who was exceptionally kind, open, and devoted to the University of Warsaw community. Above all, we will remember what kind of person she was: good, wise, loving the world and people, full of empathy.
