After months of intensive work, the Stakeholder Council of the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, University of Warsaw, in cooperation with three Discipline Councils – political science and administration, international relations, and security studies – has fully commenced its operations.
Meetings with Council members were held from April 27-29, 2026, organized within the framework of the individual scientific disciplines represented at our Faculty.
Nearly 60 people participated in the meetings, both in person and online. The aim of organizing these meetings was to strengthen cooperation between the academic community and the socio-economic environment.
An important element of the meetings was the discussion of key areas of cooperation, exchange of experiences, and issues requiring further research and development within each scientific discipline.
The meetings were led by Prof. Gertruda Uścińska, PhD, Habil., the Dean’s Plenipotentiary for Cooperation with the Socio-Economic Environment. The leaders of the individual teams were introduced: international relations – Prof. Jakub Zajączkowski (Chairman of the Discipline Council), security studies – Prof. Wiesław Cetera (Department of Information Technology) and Dr. Kornela Oblińska (Member of the Discipline Council), political science and administration – Dr. Rafał Więckiewicz (Department of Political Systems). Magdalena Jagodzińska (Chief Specialist for Cooperation with the Socio-Economic Environment) represented the Faculty, including its potential, achievements, and alumni profiles.
Prof. Uścińska presented the idea behind the Stakeholder Council’s operation and the rationale for establishing teams within individual disciplines. This stems, among other things, from the fact that disciplines have their specific characteristics, including different research methods, publication standards, or project funding sources. The establishment of teams allows for building specialization and expertise, but also facilitates meeting evaluation requirements and increases chances for grants, as each team operates within its own environmental logic. Joint work of the teams is also foreseen, depending on the issues undertaken.
On individual meeting days, Prof. Jakub Zajączkowski, Prof. Wiesław Cetera and Dr. Kornela Oblińska, and Dr. Rafał Więckiewicz presented the characteristics of their discipline, the criteria for evaluating the Faculty’s activities, with particular emphasis on the so-called ‘Criterion III’ (social impact), and examples of international cooperation influencing the Faculty’s position within the represented disciplines.
We look forward to further, broad cooperation in this area. After the meetings, Prof. Uścińska and Ms. Jagodzińska prepared a report that allows for identifying specific proposals, assessments, and directions for further actions.
We sincerely thank everyone involved in the establishment and work of the Stakeholder Council!
