Dr Mateusz Krępa – Doctor of Security Studies (2025), graduate of the Institute of International Relations, University of Warsaw (2014) and the Institute of Political Science, University of Warsaw (2016), Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies. He has worked on the following research projects:
– Mobility, migration, and the COVID-19 epidemic: governing emergencies in Lithuania and Poland, conducted at the Centre of Migration Research, University of Warsaw;
– GAPs: De-centring the Study of Migrant Returns and Readmission Policies in Europe and Beyond, conducted at the Centre of Migration Research, University of Warsaw;
– “Refugee Entrepreneurship in the EU: Sparking Grass-roots Innovation, Civic Empowerment, and Transnational Connectivity” (RE-EMERGE), Warsaw School of Economics;
– “Socio-economic Integration and Psychosocial Support Pathways for Ukrainian Refugees in Italy and Poland”, Migration Research Centre Foundation.
Previously, a public administration official with duties in Poland, Greece, and Italy, including direct work with migrants. Member of the academic collective “Researchers at the Border”. Co-editor of a special section of the journal “Studia Migracyjne – Przegląd Polonijny” dedicated to the discourse on the humanitarian crisis at the Polish-Belarusian border. Associated with the Centre of Migration Research, University of Warsaw, since 2021. Editor of the CMR Working Papers series.
Research Interests
State actions and public administration in the context of international migration and security, migration system in Poland and the EU, public administration operations in emergency situations, theories of state studies and critical security studies, history of political thought.
