Prof. Mirosław Księżopolski – Professor of Social Policy at Warsaw University. Holder of the Social Policy and Insurance Chair within the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies at University of Warsaw. Until the end of June 2019 Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Social Policy (since 1996). He is concerned with comparative social policy, social security, social policy in Poland in the transformation period. An author of publications in the field of social security, comparative social policy, evolution and specifics of social policy in Poland in the transformation period. In recent years he has focused mainly on characteristics of major models of social policy in place in developed countries (including Poland), identification of the major challenges and dilemmas faced today by this policy and an analysis of the strategies for resolution of the most important social issues. Member of the Committee of Labour Problems and Social Policy of the Polish Academy of Science (since 1991); Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of European Social Policy (1991 – 2003).
