Alicja Curanović – Habilitation Doctor in Political Science (2019), research and teaching staff member at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, University of Warsaw. Principal investigator of the research project titled “The Concept of Mission in the Foreign Policy of the Russian Federation and the United States” (awarded by the Aurora Consortium under the Erasmus Mundus 2014 program); NCN grant “Mission in the Foreign Policy of the Russian Federation” (Sonata, 2015–2021) and an NCN grant titled “The Idea of (In)justice in the Foreign Policy of the Russian Federation” (Opus, starting in 2023).
Recipient of a scholarship from the Polish Science Foundation (START program, 2011 and 2012), the Kosciuszko Foundation (research at Stanford University, 2013), and recipient of the Senior Award from the Polish-American Fulbright Commission (research at Harvard University, 2018). Recipient of a scholarship from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education for outstanding young scientists (2014–2017). She was a fellow at the Aleksanteri Institute (2022) and the Jordan Center for Advanced Russian Studies at New York University (NYU) (2023). From 2009 to 2023, she lectured in Moscow, Perm, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Uppsala, Helsinki, Tartu, Berlin, Zurich, Prague, Tbilisi, Bologna, Istanbul, Paris, and London.
Research Interests
The significance of identity, status, and perception for states’ international activities; the ontology
of security; messianism and the religious factor in foreign policy; Russian foreign policy; international relations
in the post-Soviet region and in Central Europe.
