Obszary badawcze

The establishment of the Department of Eastern Studies in 2019 was made possible by the potential and scholarly achievements of the faculty members in the field of Eastern studies, conducted at the now-dissolved institutes—the Institute of International Relations, Political Science, and European Studies. The department continues the political science research previously conducted primarily within the Institute of Political Studies’ (INP) Department of Eastern Studies and the Inter-Institute Research Center on Russia and Post-Soviet States, and focusing on political transformation, leadership and political elites, ethnopolitics, geopolitics, international relations, and foreign and security policy in Central Asia and the Caucasus, Russia, Belarus, and other post-Soviet states. In addition to the regions mentioned, the department’s Eastern Studies program also covers Central Europe and the Balkans.

Współpraca krajowa

Dotychczasowy dorobek naukowy Katedry powstawał we współpracy z uczelniami i ośrodkami badawczymi z kraju w postaci konferencji, seminariów i wspólnych publikacji. W przedsięwzięciach organizowanych przez pracowników katedry uczestniczyli badacze z Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego, Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego, Uniwersytetu Gdańskiego, Uniwersytetu im. M. Kopernika w Toruniu, Uniwersytetu im. Marii Skłodowskiej-Curie w Lublinie, Uniwersytetu Wrocławskiego, Uniwersytetu w Białymstoku i Polskiej Akademii Nauk.
