Prof. Anna Wojciuk, Ph.D. – earned her Ph.D. in political science (2017); from 2017 to 2019, she served as a board member of the European International Studies Association (European International Studies Association). From 2017 to 2018, she was a board member and treasurer of the International Political Sociology Section of the International Studies Association. From 2017 to 2018, she served as acting chair of the Warsaw Chapter of the Polish Association for International Studies (previously, from 2011 to 2016, she served as secretary of that chapter).
She is the principal investigator of several research projects carried out under the National Science Center (NCN): “Populists from semi-peripheral states as foreign policy decision-makers—ideological structures and practices” (since 2022), “Between Normative Threat and Soft Power: A Study of Institutional Diffusion from the Perspective of International Relations Theory” (2018–2020), and “Education as a New Source of International State Power” (2012–2015). She was also a key researcher and collaborator on two other NCN projects.
Dr. Wojciuk has conducted research in the United States and Europe at prestigious institutions such as Harvard University (Department of Political Science and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, visiting scholar, 2008/2009), Columbia University in New York (School of International and Public Affairs, visiting scholar, 2008), Cornell University (visiting scholar, 2016), European University Institute in Florence (visiting scholar, 2013; Braudel Fellow, 2017/2018, and 2024), at CERI Sciences Po in Paris (Chercheur Invité, 2009), and at the Institut d’Études Politiques in Aix-en-Provence (2003/2004). In 2014, she participated in a program at the Institute for Qualitative and Multimethod Research at the Maxwell School of Syracuse University (qualitative methods), and in 2011, in the Summer School in Social Sciences and Data Analysis at the University of Essex (applications of regression and comparative research methods). Dr. Wojciuk has lectured at the University of Copenhagen, the University of Aarhus, and the University of Barcelona. In 2014, she was awarded a fellowship by the Minister of Science for young, outstanding researchers. Dr. Wojciuk was also a Kościuszko Foundation fellow (2008–2009) and a recipient of the J. Kukułka Award (2011) for the best doctoral dissertation on the theoretical aspects of international relations.
Research Interests
Theory of international relations, with a particular focus on the study of power and institutions in international relations, the foreign policy of populists, issues related to the evolution of the international order, international security, as well as decentralization and multilevel governance.
