The Department of Policy Research Methodology is an internal organizational unit of the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Warsaw that has been in operation since 2019. It brings together scholars in the fields of political science, public administration, and international relations who share a particular interest in empirical methods in the social sciences. Members of the Department engage in research and scholarly activities, teaching, and outreach activities; they hold positions within the Faculty’s and University’s administrative structures; and they serve on the boards of international institutions and actively participate in international research networks. The research conducted at the department is interdisciplinary and based on various scientific paradigms, such as neopositivism, interpretivism, and the critical paradigm. Consequently, it employs a broad spectrum of theoretical and methodological approaches—including comparative studies, institutionalism, and the systems approach—as well as a variety of research methods.
