Prof. Barbara Szatur-Jaworska, Ph.D. – Ph.D. in Political Science (1986), habilitation degree in Political Science (2001), Professor of Social Sciences (2018); Professor. Selected positions she has held at the University of Warsaw include Deputy Director of the Institute of Social Policy and Vice Rector for Student Affairs at the Faculty of Journalism and Political Science (from 1996 to 2002 and 2005 to 2012, respectively), as well as doctoral advisor (since 2016) and head of the Department of Political Research Methodology (since 2019) at the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations. She currently serves as a member of the Senate of the University of Warsaw for the 2020–2024 term. Selected research projects: Research project of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education: “Medical, Psychological, Sociological, and Economic Aspects of Aging in Poland – POLSENIOR” – member of the national research team (2006–2011); PHC-POLONIUM PROGRAM 2012–2013: “Local Public Social Policies Toward Older Adults” – member of a nationwide research team; research project funded by a grant from the National Science Center (2014–2016): “Social Policy Toward the Aging Population of Poland—An Analysis for the Years 1971–2013”—project director. She is a member of the Scientific Committee on Labor and Social Policy of the Polish Academy of Sciences (since 2007), a member of the governing bodies of the Polish Gerontological Society (2001–2013), and since 2011 has also served on the board of the Social Work Section of the Polish Sociological Association. From 2012 to 2020, she served as editor-in-chief of the quarterly journal “Problems of Social Policy: Studies and Discussions.” From 2007 to 2020, she served as an expert advisor to the Ombudsman. She is the author of expert reports prepared for, among others, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, the local government of the Mazovia Province, the capital city of Warsaw, and the local government of the Pomerania Province.
