Ryszard Szarfenberg, Ph.D., Prof. – earned his Ph.D. (2002) and habilitation (2009) in political science; he has been a professor at the University of Warsaw since 2013. From 2008 to 2013, he served as deputy director of the Institute of Social Policy, and from 2011 to 2019, he headed the Office of Social Assistance and Integration. He also served as the research team leader for the project “Creating and Developing Standards for Social Assistance and Integration Services (Task 2),” funded under the Human Capital Operational Program (2010–2012), an expert coordinator on the project “The Social Rental Agency as a New Instrument of Housing Policy,” funded by the National Science Center (2015–2017), and the principal investigator of the project “Co-production of Social Services: The Case of Education and Social Assistance Policy in Poland after 1989 (SONATA 10),” funded by the National Science Center (2016–2020). He is a reviewer for the *International Journal of Social Welfare* and a member of the editorial board of the journal *Problemy Polityki Społecznej* (since 2009). He is an expert with the European Social Policy Network (since 2018), serves as president of the board of EAPN Poland (since 2011), and serves as EAPN Poland’s representative on the EU Integration Strategy Group (since 2009) and on the Interministerial Task Force for the “Europe 2020” Strategy (since 2012).
