Dr. Kinga Torbicka – Historian and political scientist. Ph.D. in the Humanities from Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3 University. Assistant Professor in the Department of Strategic Studies and International Security at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, University of Warsaw. Lecturer at the Faculty of Law and Political Science at the University of Reims (Champagne-Ardenne). Research fellow at the Center for French Culture and Francophone Studies at the University of Warsaw (2017–2024). Graduate of the security and defense studies program at the Institut des Hautes Études de Défense Nationale in Paris (2005) and the foreign policy studies program at the Polish Institute of International Affairs (2016–2017). Expert at the Groupe d’études Géopolitiques at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris; in the Actualité critique européenne research network at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris; and in the “PoSoc-19” project at the Université Libre de Bruxelles in Brussels. Research associate at the Europa Varietas Institute in Switzerland. Recipient of the NCN Miniatura 8 grant “Redefining France’s Strategic Culture after 1989: Sources and Redefinition” (2024–2025). Recipient of a French government scholarship (2019). Project leader of the 4EU+ project “Central Europe Facing the Pandemic” (2020–2021).

Research Interests
Main areas of research include security in the EU and NATO—from both geopolitical and military perspectives; a comparative analysis of the national security systems of EU member states—in particular those of Poland and France; Central and Eastern Europe; and the strategic culture of France and Europe.
