Roman Kuźniar – graduated from the University of Warsaw with a degree in political science in 1977. For most of his professional life, he has been a member of the academic staff at the Institute of International Relations (University of Warsaw), first as a doctoral student and then as a research fellow. He is currently a professor of humanities in the field of political science/international relations. He heads the Department of Strategic Studies. He has also worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he held a number of positions, including serving twice as head of the Policy Planning Department (1992–1994, 2000–2002). Director of the Polish Institute of International Affairs (2005–2007). Advisor to the President of the Republic of Poland on international affairs (2010–2015).
Research interests
: International security / strategic studies, contemporary history of international relations, human rights, Polish foreign policy. Author of numerous books and articles on these topics. Founder and editor-in-chief of *Rocznik Strategiczny* since 1995.
