The Department of Information Technology is an organizational unit of the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, established in 2021. It conducts interdisciplinary research and teaching in the fields of information technology, security studies, political science and public administration, as well as economics, management, media, and big data. Big Data research focuses on economic, social, and political phenomena. Examples of analyses conducted include: predicting the results of presidential and parliamentary elections (2015), a comparative analysis of official speeches by politicians (Barack Obama and Donald Trump), and a study of the impact of sentiment on currency and stock prices—correlation with official market quotes. The department’s faculty members are co-creators and organizers of new degree programs—Media Logistics and Big Data Management, the latter of which won an award in the POWER competition.
